It’s Veeva Release time again. For the 26R2 rollout, Bright Affect have looked into the QualityDocs updates that simplify inspections, strengthen collaboration and make document management easier to maintain. Here’s what stood out to us.

Periodic Review: Automatic Reassignment for Inactive Document Owners

From the 26R2 release, QualityDocs will support the reassignment of Periodic Reviews when a Document Owner becomes inactive or needs to delegate the task, ensuring that review cycles continue without unnecessary delays.

This is one of those features that solves an operational problem that is consistently experienced. People move roles, leave organisations or change responsibilities, but compliance activities still need to happen. Automatic reassignment reduces the risk of periodic reviews sitting unnoticed because ownership has become out-of-date.

Enhancements to Document Change Control (DCC) and Document Change Requests (DCRs)

Veeva has introduced several enhancements to the Document Change Control (DCC) and Document Change Request (DCR) processes in 26R2, continuing its focus on making document changes easier to manage from initiation through to implementation. The updates improve the overall user experience, streamline common tasks and provide greater flexibility when progressing document changes through their lifecycle.

At Bright Affect, we encourage organisations to look beyond the headline features and consider how these incremental improvements can reduce effort across hundreds or even thousands of Document changes each year. Smoother change control processes encourage better adoption. If it’s easier for users to raise and progress document changes, they’re more likely to follow the governed process rather than finding workarounds outside the system.

Document Relationships: Clearer Visibility with Archive Indicators

26R2 QualityDocs Updates

The Document Relationships section will be enhanced with a new archive icon, allowing users to quickly identify when a related document has been archived without needing to open the relationship or navigate away from the current document. It provides instant visual feedback when reviewing document relationships, making it easier to understand the status of connected content at a glance.

Previously, users may have needed to investigate further to determine whether a linked Document was current or archived. The new archive indicator removes that uncertainty, making Document reviews quicker and helping users avoid inadvertently referencing superseded information.

Together, these features remove friction from routine activities, improve visibility across quality processes and help users spend less time managing the system and more time focusing on quality itself.
